Eventful autumn at FBC

Thank you all for joining FBC events autumn season 2019!

Our autumn started with EU Young Professionals Networking evening on August 28. FBC cooperated with NBAS (Norwegian Business Association in Singapore) in the spirit of Nordic collaboration. You all made the event happy and joyful, over 90 participants. We thank the speaker Saira Gill from Antler who opened the event speaking about the next generation of start-ups in Southeast Asia, touching upon technology developments, main macroeconomic developments and providing a few examples of start-ups in the region. The event was sponsored by Aalto Executive Education Academy and Finnair and hosted by Nordea.

We got a fully informative outlook for The Global and APAC market on September 26, 2019, when Mr Rajiv Biswas dived into China-US trade relationships and discussed their effects on the other APAC economies. Thank you for the interactive discussion! The event was hosted by Nordea.

The Nordic joint event Nordic Ambassadors’ Luncheon on Work-life Balance was held on October 2, 2019. We reached out both local and Nordic business communities to join this very important topic-focused luncheon. We received a lot of positive feedback about Nordic cooperation and wishes to continue on a similar path. Nordic countries are on the top on the work-life balance in the world and Nordic Ambassadors emphasized it is the one area the countries will continue to support. Thank you for the HE Ambassadors Dorte Bech Vizard (DK), Antti Vänskä (FI), Anita Nergaard (NO) and Niclas Kvarnström joining the discussion with Ms Jacqueline Poh, Deputy Secretary, Prime Minister’s Strategy Office. We also heard different company policies and solutions on work-life balance from Mr Gustav Heiberg (Norsk Hydro), Mr Vasishtha Tandan (Maersk), Mr Robert Radway (Handelsbanken) and Ms Minna Rouru (KONE). Special thanks to our sponsors, Nordea, Salling Search, Flokk and the VIP sponsors Astra Zeneca and Lofoten Arctic Water.

FBC members and Nordic network were invited to INSEAD to listen to a fascinating talk about “Leading Diverse Teams for Breakthrough Performance” by Professor Henrik Bresman on October 8. Many of us got excellent takeaways to leverage our leadership at work. Thank you INSEAD for the very interesting evening!

On October 23 Mr Robin Speculand’s talk gave us an insight on how digitalization is dramatically transforming the way businesses operate today. He shared with us shocking research results on how a majority of digital executions (84%) are failing. Fortunately, he also shared how to succeed. The breakfast event was intensive and interactive. Thank you Aalto Executive Education Academy for hosting & sponsoring the event!

We had a chance to learn more about the Philippines as a market on November 11. Mr Joona Selin (NordCham Philippines) gave a talk about what is doing the business in the Philippines. Ms Eugenia Victorino (SEB) helped us to understand the Philippines’ economy and future possibilities. Thank you for being interactive! The event was hosted by SEB.

This year the traditional, and carbon-neutral, Independence Day reception was held on the 3rd of December at Chijmes. HE Ambassador Antti Vänskä and also Dr Amy Khor, Singapore’s Senior Minister of State, Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources and Ministry of Health stated the two nations share many similar commitments, bringing forward many opportunities in collaboration for instance on education and health care. Ambassador Vänskä emphasized Finland’s current mission on sustainability and circular economy and continued that Finland has again ranked the happiest country in the world this year. We thank the Embassy of Finland for the celebrations.

Tonight we are celebrating 102nd Independence Day Reception of Finland at CHIJMES. Thanks to collaboration with…
